Farah Balmer - About Me

"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:13-14

My name is Farah Balmer and I am delighted to be a member of the OSCA staff.  I believe that God's plans for us are always better than our own (Jer. 29:11) and He orchestrates things in a way that always brings us in total awe of His perfect wisdom. I am originally from the Philippines, came to the U.S in 2011 and has since called this beautiful country my new home. I reside in Gladstone, MO with my amazing husband and children - Atarah (7 years old), Arrow (4 years old) and Ace (2 years old). I also have a 17 year old stepson who is a senior at Oak Park High School. We are a musical family and on Sundays, we worship-lead at our local church, The Grace Place, in Smithville MO. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Language and Literacy. I am currently admitted to the Education Specialist program at UMKC. I believe that learning is a lifetime adventure and I love learning and discovering new things. I love cultures and traveling and it is my dream to travel the world someday. My passion is teaching reading and I look forward to helping my students here at OSCA see themselves and see the world through the books they read. It is true what Dr. Seuss had said that the more that we read, the more things we will know and the more that we learn, the more places we will go. I am so excited to share my gift of teaching and I would like to thank you for your partnership and trust. 2020 will be a great year of learning and growing!
